In today’s dynamic world where we happen to be surrounded by brands of shoes, clothing, accessories, technology, education, etcetera, a person might wonder what makes a brand or a company so successful. Moreover, they are more likely to wonder that if they were to open or start a business, would they be able to maintain their business’s image in the same way as some of the current successful businesses or fail like that one store they had seen opening and had wondered how it would do and it had closed after just a year of opening and everyone had forgotten it existed.
Setting up a business is nothing but a risk. For all you know, you could have taken all the business advice from Chiquet, the previous CEO of Chanel and priced all your products at a low cost and you still might not get customers and be unable to make sales because, at the end of the day, it is a business, therefore, is a risk.
However, just to be on the safe side there are a few things that a company can do in order to try and develop its image. First off, the company (let’s name it M) should spare a fair amount of its finance for the marketing of its products and hire a good marketing team if no one in M is capable of producing good marketing ideas. Good and attention-grabbing advertisements should be put up all over the media including social media. While making the advertisement for the product of M, the AIDA model should be kept in mind, where A stands for attention, I stands for Interest, D for Desire and the second A represents action.
During the launch of the product, informative advertising could be used. This is a type of advertisement in which information about the product is given, and is often used when launching a new product that the audience doesn’t know about. Then, it could do viral marketing because, in today’s world, where everyone happens to have an account on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc if a business does it’s marketing on social media, it’s not likely to go unnoticed.
Second, the product should have a really good unique selling point that makes it distinguished and stand out from all other products of the same market and its design and packaging must stand out from the entire shop so you can spot it the moment you walk into the store looking for it. Or even when you are not looking for it. Don’t judge a book by its cover, but the consumers might just judge your product by your packaging and design, whether it’s makeup, food, technology, etcetera. Your consumers are paying for the product they buy, therefore they would want it to look pretty and nice and decorated even.
Also, keeping in touch with your customers helps them remember you and that too in a good way because that gives them the false impression that they and their feedback actually matters to you, which leads to our next point. Ask them about their feedback, especially if you’re still an establishing business, and try to actually listen and follow what your customers are talking about because they might actually be able to help you overcome your weaknesses, and let’s not forget, they were the ones to shop from you when you were/still are in your most struggling phase, and those customers are often the most loyal and stick with you throughout life and are more likely to stick with you through thick and thin
Along with these, a few promotional campaigns, example, free samples, after-sales services, exhibition trade fairs, and (my personal favourite) a celebrity or product endorsements never hurt anyone, especially the image of the business The truth is, there are no secrets to having the best brand image. There are just a few things you can do in order to make sure it succeeds and a) becomes a brand and b) becomes a brand that actually has a good image in front of its stakeholders.
But at the end of the day, some of it also boils down to your luck. Surely most of us if not all can think of products with cringe-worthy advertisements and we can’t actually come up with a good reason about why the product is so successful and yet we do see it being used in various places, knowing it that it is, unfortunately, a successful product despite the fact that’s it’s quality might even be pretty questionable.
